Keeping It Together and Mastering Travel Packing this 2013!

In a few hours, it will be the New Year 2013! Part of my goals for the coming year include learning to travel light and mastering packing =) I've been testing packing cubes and other items from Keeping It Together for a few months now and I'm slowly getting the hang of it. Here's how I use them and some of my favorites that I used in my recent trips here and abroad! It's your turn in a while to try them out after this post *winks =)

keeping-it-together-greenhills.jpg

My current obsession are these KIT packing cubes - especially the small (top left) and extra small ones (bottom left)!

packing-cubes.jpg

The XS packing cubes are the best to separate my undergarments, socks, small towels and other small items from my shirts, skirts, etc.

small-packing-cube.jpg

The hard case bra bag below keeps the wired bras and swimsuit cups intact. I love the strap so I can just pull it out of the luggage.

bra-bag.jpg

It can fit around two of my swimwear.

swimsuit-bag.jpg

They have a new set of small toiletry bags, which I've been using for my recent trips.

toiletry-kit.jpg

All of the toiletries below fit in there! Haha. The cotton bud case, the square soap container and the squeezable shampoo tube (my super duper favorite) are also from Keeping It Together. If you're curious, the one on the lower right is a very useful travel item - a Swiss Card that comes with a pair of scissors, knife, pen, tweezers, toothpick, ruler, nail file, pin and screw driver =)

mini-toiletries.jpg

The toiletry kit from KIT comes with an S hook so you can just find somewhere to hang it to during your trips. I brought along a suction cup with a hook because I like my toiletries  hanging from a tile or mirror like below =)

toiletry-travel-kit.jpg

I put everything together in a large packing cube (purple) and a drawstring laundry bag (green), also from KIT. Tada!

packing-cubes-keeping-it-together.jpg

I put it in my duffel bag for an overnight surfing trip. Yah, I'm really trying to pack light hahaha.

carry-on.jpg

I was thinking - when I arrive, I will just pull the whole thing out in the bed or table instead of rummaging (maghalukay) through my duffel bag all the time.

packing-cubes.jpg

It comes out whole because there's a handle in every cube then they are foldable when you're not using them.

I brought my KITs in my recent trip to Indonesia and arranged them in my small luggage with my Lagu blankets =) I think I'm improving with the Travel Packing 101 haha.

The large packing cube works best for big luggages. I needed it for my big trip to Australia this month =)

If you go the KIT store, you can find these new items like other colored toiletry kits,

this cool jar with a lid

detergent-bottle.jpg

and these other containers in various sizes (you can put lots of stuff in there hehe, the round ones are my favorite for my always-lost hair ties and hair pins!).

This is a cool gift idea for travelers =)

  1. I'm interested with the toiletry kit because I think it does its job properly and the S Hook is a real innovative addition to this small bag. Hmm, when I travel, I only bring what's essential for me. If some of my needed supplies can be bought to the place where I'll be going, it's a thumbs up for me. Lighter luggage means better travel!

  3. My travel-related goal for 2013 is to learn how to travel light. I always end up paying for extra kilos whenever I travel because I think my things are not as organized as they should be. With KIT, I think this will be possible.

The travel packing tip I can give others is to make sure you only bring the things essential for the trip. Don't be too hasty to bring all your gadgets, think of your vacation as a 'cool off' from your techy life. Bring only a device, perhaps your smart phone, that you need and has the most of the functions of your other electronic devices.

  5. I got really interested with the packing cubes, actually during my last trip to Cambodia, my friend lend me her packing cubes and ask me to try it. It was really helpful for an OC like me. All my shirts were rolled up in one packing cube, the undergarments in the smaller cube, plus my shorts and jeans in the biggest cube. I usually tend to remove all my stuffs in the morning to get the things I need then fix it back, then do it again at night. So I usually fix my things 2x a day everyday during the duration of my trip and it's really tiring. I usually suggest to my friends going on a trip to always roll up their clothes as this will take minimal space in the luggage. I always have my music with me, I prefer to bring a headset even if it's bulky, it's a must for me.

My travel goals for 2013 are already planned, did buy most of the tickets is really excited :D
    - Sinulog 2013 January
    - Company outing Malaysia April
    - South Korea May
    - HongKong Sept
    - Vietnam Dec

But then again, I'm not sure if I get the job in SG, then I wont be able to go to these place anymore hahahah

Happy New Year GK! Cheers to a great blog.

    1. Hi Ella! OC nga haha. Me I used to jumble everything up then on the night before I will go home, I cram and stuff the things to fit hahaha. I'm not sure if I will get it someday - the rolling. When my sister does it, she can fit a lot. When I do it, it seems bulkier and I'm out of space haha.

Happy travels! "Pag gusto may paraan" hahahaha.

      Thanks for dropping by!

  6. I like the packing cube (purple) and a drawstring laundry bag, it organize your things. and the toiletry bag also. I think When packing your clothes, you don't want to neatly fold them individually as you would in a dresser. If you do, they will crease when compressed. So I do rolling and folding clothes together! Para may space at magkasya lahat. XD Kit is perfect partner for all the travelers.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. ah oo nga naman i should use the crease thing as a context for rolling clothes when packing hehe. but you still fold them right when you roll or you don't (straight roll)?

  8. : Which of the KIT items featured are you most interested in and why? Packing Cubes, because clothes are always the hardest to pack, who wants to wear crumpled clothes on a trip?
Care to share any travel packing tips and items you use/bring along to brighten your trips? I always use Eagle Creek packing envelope, too bad they don't sell that anymore. Always bring sunscreen and umbrella to trips.

    ReplyDelete
  9. The packing cubes are just heaven sent! I'm sure they'll make packing easier and more organized. My packing tip is to roll your clothes to save more space (especially used ones) -- more space for pasalubong inside your luggage :)

  10. I plan on having more out of town/country trips with friends this 2013. Hopefully the different schedules will coincide with a specific date for these plans.

  14. We plan to go somewhere south this year. Maybe Boracay or Bohol. Winning the large kit would be nice because we always try to travel light and we need something that will keep our clothes compact. :)

  15. I like the toiletry kit best because I don't have one like it yet. :-) packing tips? best to pack way ahead before the trip so that the chances of forgetting something becomes slimmer. Of course, its no guarantee that you'll forget something. But planning way ahead usually helps a lot.

  16. i lke the bra bag and the drawstring laundry bag

  17. I like the packing cubes and the toiletry kits so that I can easily organize and arrange the stuff that I need to bring when I travel or overnight at a friend's place. It is also a neat way to not scuffle around your things when you are trying to find something, and it does not look messy.

For this year, my friends and I plan to go to Corregidor for some historic adventure.

    ReplyDelete
  18. i actually like the toiletry bag and the laundry bag, i could use it in our dormitory, i go there every week and stay there for 4-5 days a week. i know these things would help me carry and bring some stuffs from my home to our dormitory.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm most interested in the toiletry bag because it's all you really would need on a trip, you can stuff all your personal items in it, toothbrust, toothpaste, deoderant and etcs... hygiene is what matters most. You can buy clothes, food and etc when you need it and at any place you got to.

A camera and spare batteries, a portable dvd player for those long drives or relaxing at a park will do wonders on trips especially when you have kids with you.

  20. My recent trip was in Singapore. And it was a fuss-free trip with regards to my luggage. 'Cos I've learned to pack light. Before I looked like a Christmas tree whenever I have to travel. Andameng nakasabit. From shoulder bag, backpack, handbag, to paperbags... Hassle! So I tried using bag organizers and kits. And yes, it lessen the bags I have to carry and put around my arms. Plus there are more space inside my luggage for gift/souvenir shopping.

    My travel tips:
    - I bring pairs of leggings and a pair denim pants. 'Cos leggings are lighter than denim pants.
    - I put the liquids (alcohol, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, feminine wash, etc.) in small containers so the big bottles won't take sooo much space.
    - I use lightweight bath-sized towel so it's easier to dry off.
    - I plan ahead of what clothes to wear depending on the climate and the location. If jackets aren't necessary, then scarves may do. I bring a pair of shoes that would suit any occasion that might arise and my trusty and comfy slippers for long walks.
    - I use bag organizers and kits so it's easier to fit my things inside my luggage and to avoid getting things mix up with the others. If it's shirts, then it's all shirts. No undies nor socks in it. I place all electronic devices and accessories in one bag so I could easily find them when I need them. It would be hassle-free. And absolutely a bright and light trip.

For the coming Holy Week, we're planning to go to Hong Kong. And for the summer, we're bound to Coron :) And I am sure KITS would be a lot of help for a crazy packer and traveler like me. Hee

  28. I love the bra bag and the toiletry bag! It's quite deceiving for it can surely carry a lot!

Let me share one of my travel tips. I keep a travel checklist so I don't have to make one everytime. I just have to adjust the number of clothes depending on the length of the trip. Saves me a loooot of time.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would like to bring the toiletry bag except when spending vacation at hotels where they provide disposable hygiene kits. Hard containers are great to place my powdered beverage sachets, fruits and fragile items.

I would bring extra batteries and charger for my camera and mobile phone as well as a small tool box in case I need to DIY something.

My travel goal this year is to experience at least once of each: travel overseas, mountain hiking, duathlon(trail run+biking) and ultra marathon(50-102km run) from provincial races.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I like the toiletry bag with S hook. I hate forgetting toiletries in my bag whenever I'm in the bathroom already during trips. This is more convenient as I can just hook my toiletries during my entire stay.

Travel tip: Investing on a nice mobile powerbank is a must for tech loving travelers. I always bring one especially during long trips, I don't need to worry about drained batteries for my gadgets. :)

  37. KIT Packing Cubes. Before, I always have a lot of plastic inside my luggage. I used it to hold and segregate my clothes. Its kinda hard to use because i need a lot of taped to hold it and I cannot recycle it. After seeing this packing cubes, Ive imagined how easy will it be to pack and segregate my clothes and good thing is that I can use it again later. and it comes in different color. so kikay!

When I travel for vacation, it is my practice to carry bright and loud colored shirts because it makes my day happy and outstanding. And a tip, it looks very very good in pictures =D

    2) The toiletry kit with the hook (have some and they're so useful for all toiletry stuff)
    3) the packing cubes!
I always bring sunscreen to protect my skin. And always have lipbalm on my pocket---just in case.

  41. I am most interested in the toiletry bags so I won’t forget these necessities & end up buying these things in a store.

I always bring a camera to capture a wealth of memories that can never be experienced again. Extra batteries, charger & cord etc. should be tossed in, too, of course. It's also a good idea to shoot before the trip just to make sure that the camera is working.

I'm booked for Cebu this summer, and will be probably be booked for either Singapore, HK or Thailand too! :)

  44. Out of the many interesting products from KIT, the BRA BAG caught my attention. What a brilliant idea to pack women's basic necessity "brassieres" protecting its shape to ensure perfect support and comfort even during hectic travels.

I use a cubes, compression bags, stuff sack during travels so that my stuff can fit in 1 bag to make movement easier and lesser worrying of things to watch for. But I do bring extra packable/eco bag for pasalubongs all the time :)

What are your travel-related goals for 2013?

Travel goal for 2013 this year is to promote backpacking to friends and support homestay programs (http://philippineshomestay.com/) not just because its cheaper than staying on hotels or resorts but because of the knowledge and fun of learning the culture and way of life from places we visit.

  45. I would love to have a large and small packing cube. I have traveled last year to Singapore and Malaysia (to visit my husband who had been based there for a while) with my 3 daughters ages 12, 6 & 3. Since then, I think I have become a packing expert haha! Whenever I pack our clothes, I just roll each piece of clothing and use all the spaces in my luggage. Our travel plans include going to Hong Kong this February and visit Boracay again come November.

What are your travel-related goals for 2013?
I don't really travel a lot for now since I'm still a student but every summer, we do go out. This summer, we're (family) planning a trip to HK, our first international trip if ever.

I find the XS packing cube very helpful specially to a mom like me. I have a toddler and I always have a hard time packing his itty-bitty stuff such as his tiny socks, small towels and even his favorite little toy car. What I usually do is just slip it inside our bag pockets and I find it really messy and unorganized. The XS packing cube is really perfect for my son's things and will keep our baggage in order.

What are your travel-related goals for 2013?
Our goal for 2013 is to explore more on local sites and destinations like BOhol, Palawan and Vigan. And if we are lucky enough, we will try to travel internationally at the end of 2013. :)

  63. Colored toiletry kits is what I really liked. I did my internship at NAIA last summer so one thing that "broke" my heart was seeing all those expensive perfumes and lotions put in the bin(I forgot what it's called but I know you know what I'm talking about). So I like it plus that's one that I can really use. I am a girl. I need my lotions and stuffs lol.
For the first time in my life I'll be riding an airplane next month! So if I win it would just be awesome! I'll be going to Cebu for our school tour. I am so excited!

If God permits, we're planning to travel somewhere in Manila with my family maybe in summertime =).

  80. I'll try to travel with the family this year as long as I have the budget for it pero priority number pa rin ang tuition. :) As for travel tips, travel light! Always leave room for pasalubong!

The bra container for me is a must have. I want to have that. :)

  81. 1. Which of the KIT items featured are you most interested in and why?
    - I'm definitely interested in the toiletry bags and toiletry kits. As a University student and freelance singer/host, I'm almost always outside the house and on the go and kits like these can keep all my personal hygiene stuff all in one place. Besides the functionality, the look of the toiletry bag and kit are also great! Not at all feminine, well, at least some of the colors available. Ha ha!

    2. Care to share any travel packing tips and items you use/bring along to brighten your trips?
    - Whenever I need to pack, I always make it a point to make a check-list first of all the things I'd need for that specific trip. Fool-proof plan so you'd enjoy the trip more and stop worrying for things you forgot to bring! One of the things I always bring is my toothbrush kit; makes me confident enough to always smile :)

    3. What are your travel-related goals for 2013?
    - I'll (finally) be graduating this April and it'd be great to start travelling! First on the list to visit a few relatives in GenSan and a couple of friends in Davao. I want to explore the Philippines more and get to know more about the treasures in our very own country. My passport was delivered to me recently, so the chances of me getting on a plane and visiting other countries and experiencing their culture just got higher! I'm very excited to travel and Keeping It Together travel/storage essentials would just make my travelling less stressful and more enjoyable!

So sorry for the long comment! Ha ha! :)

  82. Love the packing cube. Very practical and useful.

For 2013, my goal is to travel to more historical places because for the past years of my life, I've been travelling to satisfy the desires of my body and eyes. My brain and soul is kind of getting jealous already so I guess I have to be fair to all. :)

  84. I'm a frequent traveler, unfortunately mostly on business
:( and have always relied on vacuum bags.

BUT thanks to your site, I'm very interested in the packing cubes! It's so logical and would lessen the wrinkles on my clothes (unlike how it goes with the vacuum bags, so I always end up having almost all of my clothes ironed!).

Also bra bags! I have been through a loootttt of embarrassing moments with my bra being scattered all over during a "random" bag inspection.

  93. I like the toiletry kit with s hook. Should be able to hold all my makeup and skincare prods when I am out for days or weeks. Also when I'm going to be out for a long time, I usually pack clothes that don't require ironing.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Which of the KIT items featured are you most interested in and why?

XS packing cubes as you mention that is the best item to separate undergarment, socks, small towel etc.,
Because when i start to look something in bag like shirts, undergarments etc. it will be a mess, because to remove everything to see that thing and i lazy to put them back again :)

What are your travel-related goals for 2013?

My travel goal for 2013 is to go to the place is here:

  100. I'm very ineterested in the bra bag! Honestly, this is the first time i've heard or seen one. Packing my bras has always been a problem for me. I hate ending up having deformed bras because they got squished in my luggage. This is such a brilliant idea!!
A packing idea I can share is by stuffing yoyr spare shoes with you small stuff (socks, undies). Make sure to wrap your small items with ziplock first before putting them in your shoes. This helps maintain the shape of your shoes...plus, it also saves some of your luggage space! When I travel I always make sure I have my sunnies (shades) and sunblock. The sun will always shine during your trip whereever you go and whatever season it may be.
This year I'm hoping to see more of the Philippines. I want to se the not-so-commercialuzed beaches of our country.

  101. i prefer the packing cubes and the toiletry because all in one organizer,no hazzle when im on vacation!!

  103. 1. I would like the bundle of plastic containers bcoz it's very practical to have specially if you lots of stuff you need to organize at home.

    2. My tip: travel light so that you won't lose things and not need to get tired of carrying your load.

    3. Travel related goals: I hope I could convince myself to join and win a contest that rewards a travel package as prize. Most of the time I go for gadgets and cash.

  104. I like the packing cubes and the toiletry bag. I am the one in-charge of packing for our trips and these will really help in organizing stuff for my hubby and my two kids.

We are traveling to Cebu this Friday for Sinulog and plan to go to Ilocos this Summer. We are also looking at Singapore at the end of the year. So, wish me luck! ;-)

  105. I love the bra bag and toiletry bags, I'm so fascinated with bras that I dont want them to be disformed when going on trips plus i can't live without going to the bathroom where all my toiletry needs depends on this toiletry bag. I have this ritual of applying my toners and creams in order so I can still maintain my beauty habit even on long vacation trips.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I prefer containers in various sizes. It may helps me to keep all my beads and some of my baby daughter's accessories. I can now organize all the small things to large one.

  107. 1. I'm interested in the packing cubes, toiletries kit, and the soap container (mine just broke :-s). I tried using a packing cube recently and it was such a great way to get things packed efficiently (with respect to time AND space).
    2. Travel tips? Pack light! But not too light.. Always take into consideration if you plan to buy clothes or other stuff. And always bring a spare bag or two (for extra stuff and/or wet/dirty clothes
    3. I'll be going to Hong Kong in March, but I plan to visit some local destinations as well -- I have to have a beach outing (most likely Boracay). I also plan to visit my friends in Roxas and my newly wed cousin in Cagayan de Oro.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I'm really interested with the toiletry bag. Well, I'm very particular with my toiletries and I often go to my bestfriend's house for sleepovers. I can't go unless I have all my toiletries. So I'd love to check it out, really. :)

Travel packing tips: Make sure that you pack the things that go together. Try to match the way your things are packed with the activities that you'll be doing (like if you'll have swimming first, then make sure that the swim wears are at the top so you don't have to dig and look for it). The thing that I always bring with me to brighten any trip is my ipod. I'm sort of a music lover so I always bring it with me. I also bring chocolates all the time. Chocoholic. Hihi. :>

  112. I always use packing cubes in my travels. When I go to an extended camp and travel with a backpack, I also use those plastic compression bags. You pack your clothes inside the bag, roll them up, and all the air comes out. It is a space saver! They are, normally, at Daiso Stores. Here is picture of of those plastic bags -
