Pearl of the Pacific Boracay Hotel Review and the Start of my Globe of Good Adventure!

I joined Globe for their dive cleanup in Boracay this year. As a subscriber, it's such a wonderful thought that they gave me and three other new friends this chance to meet each other and bond while doing something we love - traveling, being ourselves and learning more about how we can give back. It's only been months since I've been back and yet there's another set of wonderful memories to share. As I said, I came back just in time to fall in love with nature and my life all over again. This is Part I of another Boracay series. Here's Boracay at the start of the peak season =)

10:00 a.m. We arrived at the newly renovated airport in Caticlan in the morning. I often need to remind myself not to take a super early flight as hotel check-in time is usually in the afternoon and to give myself enough sleep - unless I've booked a flight from Kalibo to Boracay (+2 or +3 hours ride to Caticlan) =)

We were at the port in no time (10-15 mins via tricycle) and boarded a cheaper normal boat. It's only around a 20-minute ride anyway. I tried the Oyster Ferry last time and we had to walk super far, not to mention you had to wait longer since there are more people. I also had a harder time going up and down that craft so I appreciated this and fresh air.

When we got to the island, I would usually take a tricycle for around P20-P25 if I don't have a hotel van waiting for me, P100 if I don't want to wait for others. This time around I found out about a cooler alternative for groups! I would surely recommend this comfier ride! For around P200 up to our hotel in Station 1 already, it can fit all your luggages and more people!!! It's like a jeep L300 and you can find them near the port after the boat ride. No more haggling and feeling bad about that tricy ride haha.

10:45 a.m. We stayed at the Pearl of the Pacific Beach Resort Boracay in Station 1. As expected, it was still early so there were no rooms yet. We were a bit famished so we decided to have an early lunch haha. The 4 of us walked for a bit by the beach and was intrigued by the Obama Grill (Station 1). Obvious ba gutom na talaga e haha. We were actually just looking for an airconditioned restaurant near the hotel because it was super hot. So jackpot!

We ordered some kilawin (meat marinated and cooked in vinegar),

some sizzling bulalo steak (o diba? haha) and

last but not the least, crispy pata! This has got to be one of the most Pinoy and super filling lunch feast I ate in Bora. Hehehehe.

As if that wasn't enough, we killed more time away from the sun at the Jonah's Shake branch near the beach and Obama. I have got to remember to order plain mango shake next time.

1:10 p.m. After a 2-hour lunch, we were told that our rooms were ready! I was excited since I've never stayed at the Pearl of the Pacific before. I thought our rooms were right there because there are rooms just beside the pool. Apparently we had to ride an electric car to the jungle.

It only took around 5 minutes or less to get there, turns out they have a building in the middle of all the trees and vegetation.

It gets pretty steep and you'll have to hang on for the last part of the ride. I wouldn't even attempt to walk to the lobby haha. The golf car is there for a good reason haha.

Our room was a suite-type with a kitchen, sala,

hot shower, toilet

and veranda.

Our bedroom was separate from the sala although the other rooms are studio-type. If you're staying here, I suggest you ask the exact type of room and look before you book. But if it's peak season like now, you better book early to get what you want.

Since there is a kitchen, I thought we could use the pans and all but they said these were only for long-stayers meaning you have to consider this also when staying here. We also had a bit of trouble with sharing the one key. You have to leave it with the guard when you go out by the way. You'll be on top of nowhere and prepare your food or takeout plans ahead. Like us, you'll find it a good cold place to sleep and not go out (even if it's 5 minutes away from the beach if you take the electric golf car) hahaha. As expected, we decided to stay out of the sun at mid-afternoon and did something else indoors - watch how to assemble underwater cameras for the dive cleanup!!!! I was super excited! Oh, did I tell you my two awesome new friends are underwater photographers & divers?!  What a way to start the trip with these discoveries! Everything almost I did on this day, I haven't done in Boracay before. Hahaha.

To be continued...Until my next post =)

How about you? Are you a frequent Bora traveler? What are the first things you do when you get to Boracay? Are you going to Bora this summer? If you haven't been to Boracay, what would you do on your first day? =)
