Manila Airport WiFi Free

Just last month, February 2012, Globe Telecom has announced its partnership with the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA). What's in store for millions of passengers arriving and departing to and from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), NAIA Terminals 2 and 3 as well as the Manila Domestic Airport is a Free WiFi service. This will enable passengers to work online, check emails, check their travel itineraries, surf the internet and stay connected to their friends through social networks like Facebook and Twitter via mobile phones, laptops and other devices. This private-public partnership is a perfect start to the efforts of the government to uplift the image of NAIA without putting additional burden on the passengers and visitors.

I have yet to try out this free service on my next trip but if you are ahead of me, just look for the network with the name GlobeFREEWiFi@MIAA. I have been a Globe Telecom user for more than 10 years and their mobile service is great. I haven't tried their flagship broadband brand Tattoo though so maybe this free WiFi service will be my first taste of their internet connectivity capability.

As for the MIAA, I wish you all the best. Speaking of public service, please hire quality customs officials who will welcome back balikbayans and send off visitors with a smile and ask for nothing more than information about their trip.

If you'd like to know more, I've written a post on the current Manila Airport International Fee and Clark Airport International Fee. Most airports around the world don't require you to pay this separately with the airline ticket but when in the Philippines, remember to always leave cash to pay for these fees (along with the Travel Tax - this alone costs around P1650 today unless you have a Travel Tax Exemption Certificate) before your flight out.
